What (and/or Who) am I reading?

Hello, internet.

TL;DR: Name's Chris.  Playing GW2 through beta and beyond. Join me as I lay waste to the Tyrian countryside.

I recently got into the Beta for Guild Wars Two and have decided to blog about it, and when a Beta Spectacular(read: weekend event) isn't going on, I'll probably be using this blog to go into the other games I play and the gaming industry in general.

During the beta weekends I'll be going into detail about everything I do in the beta weekend, probably supported with Fraps videos uploaded to Youtube and embedded here on blog.  I'll be collecting numbers, data, and as much information as I can right here.  I'll probably do min-maxxing math for builds, give you stats from the game you won't find elsewhere and hopefully give any of my readers a look forward that won't be afforded to the average future GW2 player.  If I end up doing story stuff(I might not, haven't decided if I want to spoil the personal storyline until launch or not.,) I promise I'll definitely add [SPOILER ALERT]s to any post which merit it.

So, who am I?

I've played most every PC game that looked interesting to me, and a few that didn't.  These are the ones that actually mattered and that I would point to as the games which shape my experiences and opinions as a gamer:

  1. Mechwarrior Mercenaries-  Made me into the sci-fi fan I am today (that and early childhood viewings of Star Wars and Stargate: SG1)
  2. World of Warcraft- Alright, say what you will about WoW, but the fact is you can't really say you have insight into the industry without "walking a mile" in this game's shoes.  I chose the leather treads of a Rogue and haven't looked back since I kicked 'em off.
  3. Perfect World International- Another one I'm glad I played but am even gladder I got out of.  I played this for about a year heavily, and it showed me just exactly what a 'grind' really was.  At launch it essentially ran out of quests at level 70ish and level cap is 105.  Level 104-105 gap was essentially the level 1-104 gap.  Let's put it this way, I'm not ashamed to have got out of the Asian MMO style of game.
  4. EVE Online- One I still play today, this one is hard for me to put down. Character name is Kor'o Yr'y'eldi if you want to drop me an EVEmail.  Drives me to desire all things sandbox, and for good reason.
  5. League of Legends- A damn well put together game, considering its origins.  I'm proud to still play this one as well, though I'm no pro.  Orias the Black is my summoner name, friend me if you want to play sometime... No guarantees on winning. heh. (Can you believe some loser already took Orias?  Who the hell knows that name besides the like four satanic people left in the world and me?)
And most importantly of all Guild Wars One.  I loved that game.  Practically all of it.  Tons and tons of fun even now.  It's what drove me to Guild Wars Two at first and it is essentially my first real MOG.  Sure I had messed around with other stuff before but it was what really made me love the genre.  Had my first groups, killed my first bosses.  Lost my first thousand gladiator matches.  (Seriously though... its hard as hell to not get failtacular groups in RA, to those who actually achieved gladiator titles, I salute you.)  And yes, I even liked Cantha, if only cause the kurzick's are 3 kool for skool.  Character name was(and is if you'd like to get in touch) Christalah Jeradal, a Warrior, and he's something I'll talk about some other day I think.

So that's me I suppose.  I'll keep you updated on what I hope will be a wonder of a game.

o7 - Chris
